We love VIRR.

We spoke to Mr VIRR recently, have a read…

Hello, my name is…

J.W.Neate

And I’m …

The head designer from Virr

VIRR is…?

The Beholder; one who can truly appreciate our pieces.

How did the label come about?

As part of completing a gentlemens education, I traveled the world. Whilst exploring, I realised that my solo adventures were somewhat hindered by ill-functioning & uninspiring luggage. I eventually found a reasonable bag, but had it adapted by a local coach-fitter. I then realised the satisfaction of creating something stylish yet functional & saw the absence in the market for such a product.

My drink of choice is….

Easily a Ron Zaccapa  23 year old (fine rum), but as the girls from TWR know (and sampled themselves) Ive been enjoying the delights of the Angostura 1919 a beautiful 8 year old rum.

What do you love about accessory design?

I enjoy the versatility. It seems as if clothing is done to death, reproductions of other reproductions are tiresome. Accessory design to me is more free and unchartered, if I make it that way. I can incorporate strong personal influences but still make something new.

What is the inspiration behind your designs?

Im greatly inspired by my father and English grandfather. Gentlemen who taught me the importance of style, masculinity and morality. Im also greatly influenced by my own esoteric studies, which I actually incorporate hints of within my designs.

If you could personify VIRR, who would it be and why? (Dead or alive)

Winston Churchill, a man of conviction and strength even in extremely trying times.

Feel like drawing us something?

Virr also just released their A/W12 lookbook. Check out ‘ The Romance of Exile ‘
